Missouri is attracting a variety of projects to support economic diversification. The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) helped complete more than 100 projects, leading to more than 8,000 jobs and $2.3 billion in investment in fiscal year 2023. Drug development company Alta sciences is expanding its research center in Auxvasse with a $65 million investment and more than 209 new jobs. Meridian Medical Technologies announced in April 2023 a $100 million expansion and 30 new jobs in Bridgeton. Veeva Systems, a cloud software leader in the life sciences industry, also announced in March 2023 an expansion in Kansas City that will create more than 100 high-paying jobs over the next five years. And Swift Prepared Foods announced in April 2023 a $200 million facility in Columbia that will employ up to 200 people in the coming year. “This is the culmination of years of hard work and investment by our team and our partners in Missouri,” said Swift President Tom Lopez
Business Facility Headquarters Tax Credit Program: New or existing Missouri companies locating or expanding their headquarters in the state may be able to access incentives based on the number of new jobs and revenue invested.
Missouri Works: Offers access to capital through withholdings or tax credits to embark on facility expansions and create jobs.
Missouri One Start: A new tool to help businesses recruit, onboard, and train large numbers of job applicants during major expansions through customized training solutions.
Data Center Incentives: Provides exemptions from state and local sales taxes on items such as utilities, machinery, equipment, computers and construction equipment that could last 10 to 15 years.

The IDEA Fund makes equity-based co-investments with Missouri companies that are in high-growth, technology-based industries with the potential to make an economic impact within the state. As a state sponsored venture firm, MTC makes direct investments into companies in exchange for equity. Eligible companies’ technology should be one of the program’s five areas of animal health, applied engineering (software), biomedical science, defense and homeland security, and plant science.
